Marcel Robin
Marcel Robin was born and raised until the age of 18 in Haiti. Coming from Haiti, Marcel naturally took on to dancing like every kid takes on soccer, gymnastic, basketball, and swimming. Social dancing is a way of life in Haiti and no formal training is required. In the late 90’s, Marcel got the opportunity to take his social dancing skills to the next level by attending the Fred Astaire Dance Studio which was then located on Bond Street, in lower Manhattan. A few lessons from Stanley McCalla, his wife Jennifer McCalla, and a couple of other instructors prompted Jennifer to name Marcel and his wife Charmaine “the best social dancers.”
Marcel Robin is a successful State Farm Agent who is passionate about helping others while carving a successful path for all his family and team members. He has contributed and supported many causes, including serving as the Chair of the Board Development Committee of the Queensborough Jamaica YMCA, one of the largest not-for-profit organizations. His contributions have earned him the following accolades: Distinguished Citizen by the Robert Couche Senior Citizens Center; Certificate of Recognition for Contributions to the Southeast Queens Community by Senator Malcolm A. Smith; Excellence in Business Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Queens Small Business Community by Assemblyman William Scarborough; Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the HAUP (Haitian-Americans United for Progress) Organization; Volunteer of the Year by the YMCA; Businessman of the Year by the Queensborough President’s Office.
Marcel feels honored he gets to combine his passion for dancing with supporting the fundraising efforts of the Autism Science Foundation, the Dancing Stars of Westchester, and a dance school that is dear and close his heart, the Mamaroneck Fred Astaire Dance Studio.
