Dina Palmiotto
Dina Palmiotto was born and raised in Westchester County. She is an accomplished business woman who owns and runs multiple companies. With the help and support of family and friends, she is the owner of a W/MBE Contracting Company, and she owns rental properties in the Florida Keys. She recently began a mobile dog grooming company, Shake Wag N Roll. She is also a wife, a mother of four and a grandmother to two beautiful boys. Dina’s love of dance began at a young age in a household where her mother was an amazing blues singer who would always encourage Dina to learn how to dance. “Maybe it was her motherly way of saying I wasn’t gifted with her voice,” Dina recalled. “I remember one afternoon in our small apartment, my mom insisted on teaching me the Lindy. We didn’t stop until I had it down pat.”
About three years ago, Dina began to ask for gift certificates to Fred Astaire Dance Studio, on family gift-giving occasions. When she finally received them, she walked into the Mamaroneck studio and said to her instructor Arsen Sargsyan, “I want to learn how to dance, have a little fun and maybe lose a couple of pounds, but don’t ever ask me to do a competition.” Fast forward three years later … Arsen is still Dina’s instructor; she has enjoyed three competitions; they never stop laughing; and maybe three or so pounds have been lost (lol.) Most of all, Dina is loving the process of dancing.
While Dina’s mother unfortunately never got to see her dance, everyone who comes out and shows support for Autism Science Foundation will get to hear Dina’s mother sing as part of Dina’s dance.
“I am dancing for Autism Science Foundation because I know, through family experiences, how crucial diligent research is for anyone afflicted by a chronic condition or disability. Supporting the science and the research is the best way to help people manage their disabilities and enjoy better lives.”
